Summary

We've got a big backend and we're proud of it! Normal's servers span the globe and serve everything from this website to our real-time multiplayer backend for Normcore. Our services require high availability and need to be intelligently designed. As a developer on the team, you'll be responsible for designing and developing new backend systems at Normal.

Key Qualifications

• 3+ years previous professional experience in an engineering role using Node + Typescript, HTML, CSS, Javascript.
• Experience using REST APIs to architect web services.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the basic requirements for enterprise-scale systems, including an awareness of network security and risks.
• Ability to utilize multiple data store types, including SQL, NoSQL, and key/value stores.
• Experience with cloud deployments using Kubernetes, AWS, and Google Cloud are a plus, but not required for this role.
• Employs mindful techniques for code testing and iteration.
• Previous experience with the Stripe API is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Description

At Normal we develop our own titles as well as services for other developers. In this role you'll be building REST APIs for Normcore, a skill-based matchmaker for an upcoming VR esports title, and tighter integration between our multiplayer backend and developer dashboard.

All of our backend services are written in Node + Typescript. If you've got excellent skills in this area, you'll be a great fit for this role. We'll teach you the rest.

Education + Experience

Bachelor of Science / Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
